Congratulations to TETNA’s 2023 scholarship recipient
Every year, TETNA offers a scholarship to a graduating high school senior, thanks to generous donations from our members. In addition to information about academics and extracurriculars, students are asked to write a short essay about the mission of our neighborhood association:
“To provide a welcoming and nurturing environment and to maintain the quality of life and sense of community through shared interests and neighborly interaction.”
The annual scholarship is $1,000 to one deserving student from our neighborhood. Donations to the scholarship fund are accepted throughout the year, including online here.
This year, the scholarship committee chose Kate Tarrence. She is a senior at Wauwatosa East, and was a member of the Cross Country and Track & Field teams, a yearbook contributor, and National Honor Society member. She plans to attend UW-Madison in the fall.
In selecting Kate for the scholarship award, the committee commented, “Kate demonstrated a true understanding of what it means to live in a neighborhood. From welcoming and playing with other kids at Center Street Park, to shoveling snow for elderly neighbors, and helping keep the schools clean and beautiful, this candidate exemplifies a keen awareness of community and a perfect alignment with TETNA's mission.”
Congratulations, Kate and best of luck on the next phase of your education!
